Position Summary:
The Regional Coordinator will be responsible for providing leadership and oversight in coordinating and implementing SW certification activities in the region. In conjunction with SW’s overall strategy, s/he will implement the marketing strategy for the region in accordance with annual sales and business targets. S/he will provide technical guidance to consultants to effectively conduct SW certification services in the region. This position supervises three SW regional team members.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, manage and market the SW certification business in South America (with the exception of Brazil);
- Project Management, Certification Management and Quality Control of forest and chain-of-custody services;
- Serve as the representative for SW in the region;
- Oversee SW regional finance and accounting functions; and
- Provide regional input as it pertains to policy development and technical improvements of SW certification systems.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree or Licenciatura Degree in forestry, natural resources or related field;
- 3-5 years of managerial level field experience in forestry or rural natural resources management and/or economic development;
- Proven experience to effectively market products or services; SmartWood and/or FSC certifications knowledge preferred;
- Strong planning, analytical, and project management skills, with ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously while adhering to deadlines;
- Strong interpersonal skills;
- Must have strong verbal and written communication skills in Spanish & English;
- Strong computer skills (i.e. MS Office and Internet); and
- Willing to travel a minimum of 30% of the time.
