First Honorary Members of the gvSIG Association

The Association for the promotion of FOSS4G and the development of
gvSIG, gvSIG Association, formed by the main promoters of the gvSIG
Project, aims for the sustainability of gvSIG, the promotion of FOSS4G
and high geographic information standards, has been reinforced after
the first Honour Members joined it.

Honour Members are the organizations that have contributed to the
spreading and development of FOSS4G and gvSIG project in a notable
way, and for this reason have deserved that honour and have been
invited to take part into the gvSIG Association.

The Regional Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport (CIT) of
Valencia, Polytechnic University of Catalonia, the University
Institute of Control Systems and Industrial Computing at UPV, and the
Institute of Computer Technology are now the first Honorary Members of
the gvSIG Association.

All of them have a broad experience and have collaborated in the
boosting, development and spreading of the gvSIG open source project:
finding a common space for the university, administration and private
company, creating synergies to favor common benefits.

Undoubtedly, the joining of these first members reinforces the role of
the gvSIG Association in the achievement of its objectives.

Primeros Socios de Honor de la Asociación gvSIG

La Asociación para la Promoción de la Geomática Libre y el Desarrollo
de gvSIG, Asociación gvSIG, formada por las principales entidades
impulsoras del proyecto gvSIG, y que tiene como objetivos principales
la sostenibilidad de gvSIG, la promoción de la geomática libre y de
los estándares de información geográfica, se ha visto reforzada por el
ingreso de los primeros Socios de Honor.

Son Socios de Honor aquellas organizaciones que por haber contribuido
de modo relevante a la difusión y desarrollo de la geomática libre y
del proyecto gvSIG se han hecho acreedores de tal distinción y han
sido invitados a formar parte de la Asociación gvSIG.

La Conselleria de Infraestructuras y Transporte, la Universidad
Politécnica de Cataluña (UPC), el Instituto de Automática e
Informática Industrial de la Universidad Politécnica de Valencia
(Instituto ai2 de la UPV) y el Instituto de Tecnología Informática
(ITI) pasan a ser los primeros Socios de Honor de la Asociación gvSIG.

Todos ellos poseen amplia experiencia y han colaborado
significativamente tanto en el impulso, desarrollo y difusión del
proyecto de software libre gvSIG, como en la promoción de la geomática
libre y los estándares de información geográfica.

La participación en la Asociación gvSIG de los Socios de Honor se
alinea con una de las principales líneas de demarcación del proyecto
gvSIG: encontrar un espacio común para la universidad, administración
y empresa, generando sinergias que favorezcan el beneficio común.

Sin duda, el ingreso de estos primeros socios refuerza el papel de la
Asociación gvSIG en la consecución de sus objetivos.
